Mindful Creativity

Learn The Zentangle® Method - a simple, mindful art practice that anyone can do. No artistic experience is needed, just a willingness to slow down and focus. I teach online classes and workshops that help you manage stress, boost creativity and find a bit of calm in your day.

Editing and Proofreading

I work with authors preparing manuscripts, business owners creating content, and students refining academic work. Whether it's a full edit or a final proofread, I'll help your words do exactly what you need them to do. I'll help you produce something you're proud of.

A bit more about me

Before going freelance, I spent nearly 20 years as a sub-editor and journalist, editing newspapers and magazines. That background means I notice the small things: a missed comma, an overlong sentence, a line that almost works but not quite.

In 2022, I certified as a Zentangle® Teacher. I now teach the Zentangle® method as a calming creative practice, on a one-to-one basis and via free tutorials on my YouTube channel.

Words and mindful art may seem unrelated, but to me they have some things in common: focus, patience and pride in what you create.

FAQs

What services do you offer?

I work in two areas. On the words side, I provide proofreading and copy-editing for authors, business owners, and content creators. On the creative side, I'm a Certified Zentangle® Teacher, teaching one-to-one classes online and local to Glasgow, online, a beginner course, and a paid journal.

Where am I based and who do I help?

I'm based in Glasgow, Scotland. Editing work is fully remote, so I take on clients from anywhere. Online Zentangle classes are open to anyone with a stable connection. In-person workshops are in and around Glasgow.

Proofreading vs Editing: What's the Difference?

Proofreading is the final polish: catching typos, punctuation slips, and small inconsistencies in a document that's otherwise ready to go. Copy-editing goes deeper: improving sentence flow, clarity, consistency, and accuracy alongside the proofreading checks. I'll always recommend the right level for your project.

What kinds of projects do you take on?

Manuscripts (fiction and non-fiction), website copy, business documents, marketing materials, blog posts and articles. If you're not sure whether your project is a fit, send me a brief outline and I'll let you know.

How do you price your editing work?

Pricing depends on the level of editing needed, the word count, and the deadline. Send me a sample of your project (around 500 to 1,000 words is plenty) along with the total length, and I'll give you a clear quote and turnaround time before we start.

Do I need to be artistic to do Zentangle?

Not at all. The whole Zentangle method is built around the idea that anyone can do it, regardless of artistic background. If you can hold a pen, you can tangle.

What is The Zentangle® Method?

Zentangle is a calming, meditative drawing practice created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. You build up structured patterns one stroke at a time, with no eraser and no pressure to plan ahead. Many people find it a powerful way to settle a busy mind and reconnect with creativity.

What supplies do I need to start Zentangle?

Very little: a Sakura Pigma Micron pen, a 2B graphite pencil, a tortillon (blending stump), and a 3.5 inch square paper tile. I run through the basics in detail in my free ebook and on the blog.

How do I book a class or workshop?

For Zentangle classes and workshops, head to my classes page for current availability. For group bookings or corporate sessions, email me at [email protected].

Do you offer group or corporate workshops?

Yes, I run Zentangle workshops for teams, community groups, and private gatherings, both in person around Glasgow and online. Get in touch with a rough idea of your group size and what you're looking to do, and I'll send through some options.

Where can I find free Zentangle tutorials?

My blog and YouTube channel are full of free tutorials, with new content most weeks. You can also grab my free ebook, which walks you through your first Zentangle project from start to finish.
